New R134a alternatives in mobile air conditioning
Update: 2015-02-05 14:03 View:
Two new refrigerant blends, R451A and R451B have been developed at Inha University in Incheon, South Korea. Composed of R1234yf with around 10% R134a, they are considered as an R134a alternative in mobile air-conditioning systems since their GWP is below 150.
The developers say they are “virtually non-flammable”; however they are expected to receive an A2L classification (“mildly flammable”) from ASHRAE. Initially developed for motor manufacturers, the new blends may also be suitable for heat pumps.
